By using MinimalistNotes, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

Using MinimalistNotes

MinimalistNotes is a free, browser-based note-taking application. You may use it for personal or commercial purposes, subject to these terms.

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any illegal purpose
  • Share content that violates others' rights
  • Attempt to disrupt or compromise the service
  • Use the sharing feature to distribute harmful content

Your Content

Your notes are stored locally on your device. You retain full ownership of your content. We do not claim any rights to your notes.

When you share a note, you grant us a limited license to store and display that content for the purpose of sharing. This license ends when the shared link expires or is replaced.

Data Loss

Important: Back up your notes

Since notes are stored in your browser, clearing browser data will permanently delete them.

We are not responsible for data loss due to:

  • Clearing browser data or cache
  • Browser updates or changes
  • Device loss or damage
  • Any other circumstances beyond our control

We strongly recommend regularly exporting your important notes using the export feature.

Shared Notes

The sharing feature allows you to create temporary public links to your notes:

  • Shared links expire after 30 days
  • Anyone with the link can view the shared content
  • You are responsible for content you share
  • We may remove shared content that violates these terms

MINIMALISTNOTES IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR COURSE OF PERFORMANCE.

We make no warranty that: (a) the service will meet your requirements; (b) the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; (c) the results obtained from using the service will be accurate or reliable; or (d) any errors in the service will be corrected.

This service is offered in good faith as a free tool. We are a small independent project, not a large corporation with legal resources. Please use accordingly.

Changes to Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice. Features may be added, changed, or removed at our sole discretion.

We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the service or any features thereof.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MINIMALISTNOTES, ITS CREATORS, OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Loss of data, revenue, profits, or business
  • Loss of use or goodwill
  • Service interruption or computer damage
  • Cost of substitute services
  • Any damages arising from your use or inability to use the service

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise), even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST TWELVE MONTHS (WHICH IS ZERO, SINCE THE SERVICE IS FREE).

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MinimalistNotes and its creators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time at our sole discretion. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of MinimalistNotes after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

We recommend reviewing these terms periodically for any changes.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
